Thoughtful Foods provides meals for a short period of time (maximum of two weeks) when someone is experiencing a stressful time due to surgery, death in a family, etc.)
Volunteers assisting with Thoughtful Foods pledge their culinary skills to help members needing warm, healthy meals during an unexpected stressful time for the member or their families.
Unpleasant and unexpected changes in life such as the loss of a loved one, sickness, or unexpected hospital stay can happen to us all.
These events can leave a person little time or energy to prepare a good meal. Nutritional sustenance during those times is important and HSW volunteers are here to help.
When notified of a need, HSW will contact the family to discuss details. This can include dietary restrictions, food allergies, food preferences as well as basics such as the numbers of servings needed.
HSW then alerts its Thoughtful Foods network of volunteers. Together the team plans a varied menu for the number of days needed. HSW coordinates with the family as to the time and place food is to be delivered each day.
